Heartland Trail

The Heartland Trail stretches more than 24 miles between Walker and Park Rapids. It passes through various localities, including scenic Minnesota woods, small towns, and gorgeous lakes. The trail is built along former railroad tracks, which give the trail a mostly level surface for biking.

Paul Bunyan Trail

The Paul Bunyan Trail is incredibly long in Minnesota, and part passes through nearby communities. It is about 120 miles long. According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the trail extends from “Crow Wing State Park to Lake Bemidji State Park. It is the country’s longest of Minnesota’s state trails and the longest continuously paved rail trail.”

North Country Trail

The North Country Trail is part of the National Scenic Trail, which is more than 4,800 miles long and covers eight states. Roughly 75 miles of the National Scenic Trail are in the Chippewa National Forest. Approximately 390 miles will make up the Minnesota stint of the National Scenic Trail.
